We recently had the chance to ask Jamie a series of rapid-fire questions to give you a sense of why we're so excited to welcome him as a keynote speaker.
National Alliance: What do we need in education more than anything?
JC: We need a culture shift - to build innovation and iteration into our practices, so we can continuously improve what we do for our students.
National Alliance: What does a prepared student who is ready to thrive in the workforce over the next decade look like?
JC: A student who is a lifelong learner who continues to develop their problem solving, collaboration, creativity, and critical thinking skills.
National Alliance: How do we help students discover their passion and fulfill their potential?
JC: Stop asking what they want to be when they grow up and instead ask them what problem they want to solve and how they want to solve it.
National Alliance: If you were a presidential candidate, what would be the top 3 priorities in your education plan?
JC: 1. Replace test-based assessments with critical skills assessments; 2. Pay teachers a living wage; 3. Give schools more autonomy.
